Start From Scratch and Add Back to Remove Clutter More Effectively

It’s a wonderful feeling to get rid of things that you no longer need or no longer use. But it can be difficult to decide what to lose and what to leave. For a more effective release from dirt, do not take things out – add them back.

Apartment Therapy offers this simple advice:

Don’t start by cleaning up; instead, clear the decks and add them back. It is incredibly difficult to create the emotional space needed to honestly evaluate our content ( but I love this mug! ), And the process can be tedious. If we instead focus on the elements we use the most and only add the ones we use again, it becomes easier to see the bigger picture and let go of what no longer fits.

It makes sense. We try to trim our things and only own what we “need.” So why not start from scratch and actually choose what we need instead of trying to find the reason why we need it?
