This Chart Shows How Long It Takes to Get From the Airport to the City
When you are on vacation, it is always unclear how long it will take to get from the airport to the city. At FiveThirtyEight, they calculated the average time it took to get to the airport by car or public transport.
As you might expect, it varies greatly depending on the time of day and location. It takes approximately 65 minutes by public transport from Laguardia to downtown Manhattan, and approximately 50 minutes by taxi. In Los Angeles, you are much better off by car, where you can get to the city center in about 85 minutes rather than three hours and twenty minutes by public transport. This is a rough guide and one way only, but if you’re trying to plan your trip from the airport this is a good place to start.
