This Map Shows How Much Snow It Takes to Cancel a School.

Snowy days can be a nightmare for working parents. Some areas generally require very little snow to close a school, while other areas do not flash if two feet of snow falls.

This map, created by Aleksandr Trubetskoy (Atrubetskoy on Reddit), uses data from hundreds of Reddit responses interpolated with NOAA annual snowfall days to estimate the likelihood that your area will cancel a school due to snowfall.

However, there are visual explanations, for example in the Midwest and Great Plains, cold winds and temperatures affect closures more than the amount of snow accumulated, and in green areas, even a simple prediction of snow can cause closures.

Perhaps looking the other way is a map where snow is a very big problem and areas where they are much more capable and accustomed to handling a lot of snow.
