Build a Limestone Walkway for a Unique Outdoor Trail

Slab stones are a popular choice for walkways and patios because of their natural beauty and durability. Stefan Grünkemeier from Simply Rocks shows us how to install it.

Unlike the homogeneity of bricks and paving stones, no limestone paths are alike. Flagstone is a sedimentary rock; types include sandstone, limestone and shale. Colors range from blue to brown to red, offering a shade for all tastes.

To install stone slabs, you need to dig a path with a shovel, and then lay the sand or gravel and sort it with a rake and a hand rammer. Levels of varying lengths are needed to balance the stones and set heights if needed for better drainage.
