Boost Your Success by Becoming a More Memorable Person

If you see that your friends are lucky in their careers or personal life, and you want to be as lucky as they are, perhaps there is an easy way to get the same experience: remember.

As Lifehacker alumnus Adam Duchis explains in his book Awkward Human, we often attribute random opportunity to luck. Meeting the right person at the right time and connecting with them to find a job or a date seems terribly successful. What actually happened is that the person involved increased their chances of having a similar experience by exposing themselves to the public, meeting new people and, above all, remembering:

Always stay open to new people and experiences. People quickly notice the difference between someone who is open, accepts and wants to learn new things, and those who do not. As you gain experience, it is easy to believe that you know most of the things there is to know, but in reality, you will never learn more than a small part in your life. Even if you feel like you’ve almost mastered a particular topic, think about what else you can learn. Being open will not only win the favor of those around you, but it will also help you see a chance.

Of course, being remembered won’t help you win at blackjack. But it can help you increase the likelihood that a “lucky” opportunity will come your way. The more people know about you and want to work with you, the more chances you have.
