This Venn Diagram Explains How to Actually Project Intelligence
There are many ways to get really smarter , but if you just want intelligence, The Wall Street Journal has created a handy Venn diagram that shows what we are doing and what actually works.
We do a lot of things that make us think we look smart, like making a very serious expression or using difficult words. It doesn’t really work though. Instead, it’s best to be clear, concise, and interested:
Observers also gave a higher IQ rating to participants who appeared more relaxed and confident. They rated the participants as smarter, with a confident expression rather than poker, they spoke in a clear, pleasant, expressive voice and reacted to their interlocutors – gesticulating, nodding and “participating in the conversation and paying attention.” says Dr. Murphy.
As you would expect, this is much more than just a quick chart, but the key points remain the same anyway. Check out The Wall Street Journal to read the full article.
