This DIY Emergency Whiskey Set Ensures a Strong Drink Is Always on Hand
It may not have a glass that says “in case of emergency glass breakage,” but this “emergency whiskey kit” is simple enough to hide in a desk drawer when a colleague needs to lean on his shoulder or if the day is particularly bad and the doctor prescribed just a strong drink.
The kit itself is pretty simple – you’ll need a flask, a small lighter (or maybe a few matches), a small folding cup, a small knife, some heavy foam, and a small piece of thin cloth. Of course, you’ll also need a box to store everything, and Instructables user lonesoulsurfer opted for a beautiful old wooden cigar box that was perfect for storing everything else.
Take the foam and cut it to fit the box, then cut out spaces for all the items that will also be included. The goal is for you to be able to pull this box out of the table or shelf when you need it, open it with grandeur and see – whatever you need for a good whiskey drink (and possibly a good cigar) will fit in there before you.
The complete guide below will tell you how he put it all together from start to finish. You can easily find old cigar boxes at your local thrift store or thrift store (there is a flea market near me that has a lot of them) and the manual has links to things like a thigh flask and a folding cup if you’re not sure where to pick them up too. If you don’t smoke and don’t think you’ll ever smoke (even for a good cigar), you can always make your set a little smaller and ditch the lighter and knife – or just buy a bigger flask to hide inside. Hopefully you don’t need us to tell you what to do with your flask or cup. Click on the link below to find out more.
