Set More Achievable Goals With BSQ

To get what you want, your goals must be more than an idea. The BSQ framework helps you visualize every step you need to take and when it needs to be completed.

Breaking large tasks into smaller ones is a popular method of getting the big picture, but without deadlines, these smaller tasks simply become more unattainable goals. David Van Roy of Inc. assumes that an achievable goal has three main components: think big, act small, and move quickly. First, think big and write your main goal in the column to the left. Then act humbly and break down the big goal for each step that needs to happen in order to achieve the big goal in the middle column. Finally, move quickly and list when to complete each step.

The BSQ framework – or B ig, S mall, Q uick – destroys your larger goal, but also makes the timeline easily visible. There are other options, but this model is effective and easy to create. People do not achieve their goals because they are focused on the end result, and not on the process that leads them. This structure makes the process visible and easy to follow.
